With CYO season starting to wind down, it is time to start thinking about Rebel Club. Once again we will be having a team for 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
Tryouts for all 4 teams will be Sunday, January 26th from 6-8 pm. Please report to the MAIN gym (attached to the school building) for registration and directions.
Below you will see some FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) about Rebel Club. If you have any other questions I didn't cover, please let me know.
Thanks!

RONCALLI HIGH SCHOOL BOYS’ BASKETBALL REBEL CLUB
1. What is Rebel Club?
Rebel Club is a spring basketball team for young men currently in grades 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th. Rebel Club teams practice twice a week, and play most weekends. The team will stay together at a minimum up to SPRING BREAK.
2. Who can try out for Rebel Club?
Any boy in grades 5th-8th that currently is enrolled in any one of our South Deanery school feeder schools and any 8th grader that is planning on attending Roncalli High School.
3. How many are on each team?
We keep approximately 10 on each team.
4. Is there a cost for Rebel Club?
The cost for Rebel Club is $150. This cost will go to cover leagues, tournaments, uniforms, and gym rental if necessary. This money will also cover any cost incurred by our coaches. This is NOT a fundraiser or money maker for the basketball program. All money is used and allocated for specific purposes.
5. What is the time commitment for Rebel Club?
Starting with tryouts (January 26th), the team will practice twice a week at Roncalli. 5th and 6th graders will play in a league on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and 7th and 8th graders will play in a league on Sunday afternoons. There will also be tournaments that we play in locally. Tournaments in the past have been at places like Shelbyville and Greenfield.
6. What if my son’s team is still playing in the CYO tournament?
Your son’s school team is the first priority. He can practice and or play with the Rebel Club whenever there is not a conflict, and then join the Rebel Club team full time once the CYO season is finished.
7. What if my son plays baseball or CYO volleyball?
We ask that if your son tries out for Rebel Club he is able to commit to it until Spring Break. At that point, most teams either disband or decide if they have enough to keep playing.
8. What if my son has a CYO tournament game during tryouts?
We believe we have scheduled the tryouts around all South Deanery school tournament games so everyone can make tryouts. If we have missed one, please let us know and we can make other arrangements.
9. Who would be coaching my son’s team?
5th Grade - Matt Dillion - 98 RHS Grad, former Rebel basketball player, tons of experience in youth coaching
6th Grade - Chad Ramsey - 16 RHS Grad, former Rebel basketball player, has experience coaching both CYO and Rebel Club
7th Grade - Chris Fey - 14 RHS Grade, former Rebel basketball player, current assistant on the Rebel freshmen team
8th Grade - John Hasty - 08 RHS Grad, former Rebel basketball player, current varsity assistant at RHS
